The table placed between the arches creates the illusion of floating in mid-air, while the arches create intimate booths for small groups. Despite its cozy privacy, the room can accommodate up to 80 guests.

The largest contemporary mosaic

The largest contemporary mosaic

The longest floor mosaic in Slovenia stretches over the entire length of the room. At 35 meters long and made up of more than a million pieces of stone, it tells the story of the city’s past through symbols such as a raft, a piano, a bishop’s staff and Herman Potočnik Noordung’s space station. This modern masterpiece was created by architect and artist Igor Orešič.

A space for art

The artworks curated by the Maribor Art Gallery in cooperation with the Regional Archives Maribor will take you through the story of the city and its heritage.

They were inspired by the rich history of the vine, Lent and the old town. Standing out among them are the witty caricatures of David Tavčar, depicting the oldest grapevine as a witness of time, the expressive paintings of Petja Kocet and the sophisticated series of photos by Lucija Rosc.

Architectural transformation into an elegant, warm and welcoming space

The renovated interior of the Oldest Grapevine was designed by renowned architect Stojan Skalicky.

„Der renovierte Innenraum vereint Texturen, Strukturen und Gestaltungselemente, die Vergangenheit und Gegenwart miteinander verbinden und gleichzeitig die Tür zur Zukunft öffnen. Der zentrale Tisch scheint schwerelos über dem Mosaik zu schweben – einem Symbol der Verbindung –, während das Licht nur das Notwendige beleuchtet, gerade so viel, um eine intime und authentische Atmosphäre zu schaffen.“
